Republicans are fed up with the president’s daughter. The reason? Ivanka Trump has an annoying habit that even they find unacceptable: a casual drop-in to sit at high-profile meetings, where she doesn’t belong.
As noted by Blue District, Throughout Trump’s presidency, Ivanka has overstepped her boundaries in more than one occasion, but most recent intrusion has some Republicans calling for her ousting.
During Wednesday’s meeting with congressional leaders, Ivanka, who also serves as a White House adviser, entered the Oval Office to say “hello” and the meeting careened off-topic, leaving Republicans “visibly annoyed by Ivanka’s presence,” a congressional source told CNN.
At the time she entered, the President had just sided with Democrats and agreed to support a deal that would ensure passage of disaster relief funding as well as raising the debt ceiling and continuing to fund the government into December.
Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell were already “shell-shocked” by what had just happened when she arrived, according to a senior GOP source.
Ivanka Trump had no business sitting in on the meeting or disrupting the important discussion, one Republican reportedly said, adding that if it weren’t for Donald Trump, “the unqualified Ivanka wouldn’t be in the White House” and that she “must go.”
Ivanka also joined her father Wednesday afternoon in North Dakota, where he gave a tax reform speech. In the middle of his remarks, the President brought her onstage and said his daughter had asked to join him on the trip.
“‘Daddy, Can I come with you?’ ” Trump said his daughter asked him. “I said, ‘yes you can.'”
