GOP looking To Move Jim Jordan To Intel Committee To Attack Impeachment Probe From Within: Report
Republicans in the House of Representatives are looking to temporarily reassign Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) from the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee to sit on the House Intelligence Committee instead, according to CBS News.
Jordan, who has been one of Donald Trump’s biggest supporters in Congress, has been attacking the impeachment investigation ever since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi started it.
“Democrats have turned the Intelligence Committee into an impeachment committee,” said a senior GOP staffer to CBS. “We are interested in putting together the best team.”
According to the report, Jordan’s involvement in the investigation would allow him to try to derail the impeachment from within.
But this move would also require House Republicans to temporarily remove another member from the committee. It would also potentially undermine the power of the committee’s current ranking member, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA).
