Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) made an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Friday where she referred to Donald Trump as “the most deplorable person” she has ever met.
Waters was asked if it was safe to speak about impeaching Trump after the news of the grand jury broke out.
“I’ve long thought that there was a lot of smoke, even fire, and that everything that I have learned about this president, starting with the campaign itself, that people should have understood that there was something terribly wrong with him,” Waters said.
“As a matter of fact, I have said over and over again, I think he’s the most deplorable person I’ve ever met in my life,” she added.
Waters was then asked by Joe Scarborough if bringing in John Kelly as the new chief of staff would calm Trump and the White House down.
Waters said she has “no hopes” that Trump’s behavior would improve.
“He is a flawed man with no real values and no real appreciation or understanding for government or public policy,” she said. “No, I have no hopes that anybody is going to be able to contain him or that he’s going to change.”
Waters has been talking impeaching Trump for months. She was one of the very first to raise the prospect of impeachment.
