Democrats are concerned about Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and say that he’s a threat to national security. On Wednesday, 25 House Democrats sent a letter to White House chief of staff John Kelly uring him to fire Kushner.
The letter cites a Washington Post report that revealed that multiple foreign governments have been working to manipulate Kushner.
Democrats also raised concern that Kushner failed to mention an unprecedented number of foreign contacts in his security clearance application.
Democrats also pointed out the major conflicts of interest posed by Kushner’s family business. According to another report, Kushner Companie lobbied foreign governments to invest in its troubled property at 666 Fifth Avenue in New York.
“He holds debts which run into the tens of millions of dollars, debts he held while his business sought money from Qatar and China,” they write. “As you know, Kushner’s portfolio includes the Middle East and China.”
Democrats finished the letter by claiming Kushner cannot be trusted as he could put his own financial interests ahead of the American public.
“It is impossible for the American people or their elected Representatives to have faith that Jared Kushner will put their interests above his own personal and financial interests,” they write.
