House Dems Are About To Drop The Hammer On Trump With New Investigation

Politico reported on Wednesday that Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee plan to launch a new investigation into Donald Trump’s attempt to host next year’s G7 summit at his Doral golf resort in Miami.

According to the report, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and Constitution subcommittee head Steve Cohen (D-TN) stated that such a move would constitute a violation of the Foreign and Domestic Emoluments Clauses of the Constitution, which prohibit the president from accepting gifts from foreign governments.

Trump claims that the move isn’t an attempt to enrich himself. He claimed that it is a convenience issue as it is a location close to the airport.

The location does seem quite odd, especially after the Washington Post recently reported that Trump’s Doral resort has seen a decline in revenue since Trump took over office.
