House Intel Committee Just Threatened To Subpoena WH Officials To Receive Further Response On Comey Tapes

Both Republican Representative Mike Conaway and Democratic Representative Adam Schiff, leaders of the House Intelligence Committee, are now urging the White House to respond more fully to their request for any records on Donald Trump’s conversations with fired FBI Director James Comey.

Trump tweeted last week, saying he had no recordings of his conversation with Comey, but his tweet suggested that tapes might actually exist.

On June 23, the White House told the panel that Trump’s tweet was in response to their request.

On Thursday, both Conaway and Schiff said in a joint statement that they had written the White House to press it to comply fully with their request.

“Today’s letter from the committee makes clear that should the White House not respond fully, the committee will consider using compulsory process to ensure a satisfactory response,” they said.
