‘The Irony’ : Jimmy Kimmel Demolishes Trump’s ‘Fake News’ Claims In Scorching Monologue
During his Thursday night show, NBC host Jimmy Kimmel railed against President Trump’s “fake news” accusations after the president directed his ire at MSNBC.
The late-night comedian addressed the president’s latest tweets at NBC, saying the conflict is ironic because “Donald Trump is a tornado of fake news.”
Earlier this week the news network reported that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called the president “a moron.” Trump took to Twitter to label the story “fake news” and say that it had “no verification” from him.
“The irony is,” Kimmel said, “no breathing human on the planet earth produces more fake news than Donald Trump.”
Kimmel pointed at the president’s PolitiFact rating, which shows that only five percent of the things Trump says publicly have been verified as true, while 69 percent of his statements are “mostly false, false, or ‘pants on fire’ false.”
“He’s the Michael Jordan, Elvis Presley, and Great Wall of China of fake news combined,” Kimmel said. “Donald Trump criticizing fake news is like Hugh Hefner criticizing fake breasts.”
Kimmel commended MSNBC reporter Stephanie Ruhle, who pushed back against Trump’s “no verification from me” statement on-air Wednesday, saying “Sir, we didn’t need to verify that he called you a moron, he did it behind your back.”
“Round two of the rap battle goes to Stephanie Ruhle,” Kimmel said.
