Is Ivanka Running A Sweat Shop? This Is How Much Workers In China Get Paid To Make Her Line
Ivanka Trump’s clothing line, which is made in Chinese factories, hires workers and pays them about $60 a week for nearly 60 hours of work, according to The Washington Post.
The Post reported on Tuesday that the China-based factory employs 80 workers and each one earns a little over $62 a week.
The same factory produces clothing for brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, and has been creating clothes for Ivanka Trump’s brand since 2012, according to the Post.
But besides the super low paychecks the workers get, the factory broke a few dozen violations. The Fair Labor Association, an organization that serves as a watchdog for the retail industry, took a tour of the factory in October. They found dozens of violations that were set up by the U.N. International Labor Organization
According to the report, workers in China cannot exceed, by law, 36 hours of overtime. The factory workers worked up to 83 hours of overtime.
Ivanka’s father is the same man that said “America first,” and yet she’s still making her clothing brand in Chinese factories.
Ivanka’s clothing line has actually spiked in sales since Trump took office, but let’s not forget to mention the free advertising Kellyanne Conway did last month on Fox News.
