Donald Trump has planned to hold a rally next Monday in Louisville, Ky., as an attempt to push the GOP’s replacement plan for the Affordable Care Act.
The event is set to take place ahead of the House’s high-stakes vote on legislation to overhaul the healthcare system.
Another reason for the event being held in Kentucky is to pressure Sen. Rand Paul, a prominent Republican critic of the plan in the upper chamber.
Paul calls the new plan “ObamaCare lite,” despite multiple entreaties from Trump and his senior team.
Kentucky is one of the states that backed Trump during the election but most of their residents also benefitted from the ACA’s expansion of Medicaid.
