‘Jesus Christ!’: Trump Says He’s Preventing Airline Crashes In Bizarre New Tweet

President Donald Trump on Tuesday responded to reports that there were no commercial airline crashes anywhere in the world last year by taking credit for it.

2017 was the safest year for air travel on record — and Trump credited his own policies with preventing people from suffering airline-related deaths.

“Since taking office I have been very strict on Commercial Aviation,” the president wrote. “Good news – it was just reported that there were Zero deaths in 2017, the best and safest year on record!”

Trump offered no examples of ways he had helped ensure airline safety in 2017, and he gave no specific evidence of his administration being “very strict on Commercial Aviation.”

It’s unclear how any Trump policies could have affected airline safety in other countries — and, as noted by The Hill reporter Reid Wilson, there have been no commercial airline crashes in the United States since 2009.
