MSNBC’s Scarbrough blasted congressional Republicans for selling out to President Trump, asking: “What job is worth selling your political soul for?”
Scarbrough’s remarks came during an interview with CBS “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert.
“That’s what I don’t understand, what job is worth selling your political soul for?” asked the ‘Morning Joe’ host, a former GOP congressman from Florida who left Republican Party during Trump’s presidency. “You can look at the people who are running in Republican primaries, and you can predict what they’re going to do. It’s very disappointing.”
Scarborough announced on Colbert’s show more than two years ago that he was leaving the Republican Party due to Trump and Republican lawmakers’ loyalty to him. He formally switched to being a political independent in October 2017.
Scarborough once said Trump first “pledged his fealty and loyalty” to Russian President Vladimir Putin, while accusing Republicans of “going on national television repeating Putin talking points” in Dec. 2019.
“Donald Trump is either an agent of Russia or he’s a useful idiot. Or he’s somewhere in between, we don’t know what it is,” he said last year.
