John Kerry Pokes Fun At Trump: I Won’t Believe He’s Fit Until He Produces His ‘Girth Certificate’
Former Secretary of State John Kerry took a jab at President Donald Trump Saturday, joking that he wanted to see Trump’s “girth certificate,” in reference to the president’s weight.
During a speech at the annual Alfalfa Club dinner in Washington, D.C. Kerry, whose name has been floated for a potential 2020 presidential bid, said:
“Despite the pressure he’s under, the White House physician says President Trump is in great shape — a trim 239 pounds. Personally, I just won’t believe him until he produces his long-form girth certificate,” Kerry joked about Trump.
Kerry was referring to the results of Trump’s most recent physical examination, Axios reports. He was also referring to the so-called birther conspiracy that questioned former President Obama’s birthplace, which Trump has promoted in the past.
The White House in 2011 released a copy of Obama’s original long-form birth certificate from 1961. Trump in 2016 was forced to admit that Obama was born in the U.S.
Earlier this month, Navy Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson, the presidential physician, reported that Trump is in excellent shape, saying the president had mostly normal results on several tests of his cholesterol and heart health.
Jackson said, however, that he recommended Trump take part in a more rigorous diet and exercise regimen.
The U.S. President, who weighs 239 pounds, is (conveniently) one pound away from being considered obese, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s body mass index calculator.
