President Donald Trump is reportedly losing his mind after Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said that “American leadership was better under President Barack Obama.”
The Arizona Senator was asked if the country stood on sturdier ground under Obama’s leadership. McCain responded with a resounding “yes,” The Guardian reported Sunday.
“As far as American leadership is concerned, yes,” McCain said, asserted that the former president is “a stronger leader” than Donald Trump.
Responding to Trump’s public criticism of London’s mayor, shortly after a terror-related attack that left eight people dead and many more wounded, the top Senate Republican said:
“What do you think the message is? The message is that America doesn’t want to lead.”
“They are not sure of American leadership, whether it be in Siberia or whether it be in Antarctica,” McCain added.
Trump criticized London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s comment that Londoners should not be alarmed by the increased police presence following the attack by taking the statement out of context.
“Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his ‘no reason to be alarmed’ statement,” Trump tweeted last week.
Trump also used the two recent attacks in the United Kingdom to renew his push to ban refugees and immigrants from several predominantly Muslim countries.
McCain, chairman on the powerful Senate Armed Services Committee, also vocally criticized many of Trump’s foreign policy decisions.
