John Oliver Just Issued The Perfect Response To Giuliani ‘Truth Isn’t Truth’ Remark

HBO host John Oliver is mocking President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani’s “truth isn’t truth” comment, saying the president’s lawyer will soon be telling Trump, “Don’t worry, Donald, prison isn’t prison.”

“What is Giuliani doing?” Oliver asked on his show Sunday night after playing the widely circulated of Giuliani on NBC’s “Meet the Press” earlier in the day.

“Why does the White House keep letting him go on TV?” Oliver asked. “At this rate, Trump is going to end up behind bars with Giuliani visiting him and saying, ‘Don’t worry, Donald, prison isn’t prison.’ ”

Giuliani was broadly criticized over his assertion that “truth isn’t truth” during the NBC interview, referring to his belief that special counsel Robert Mueller will draw Trump into a “perjury trap” if the two sit down for an interview.

“I’m not going to be rushed into having him testify so he gets trapped into perjury,” Giuliani said on Sunday. “And when you tell me that he should testify because he’s going to tell the truth and he shouldn’t worry, well that’s so silly because that’s somebody’s version of the truth, not the truth,” Giuliani said.
“Truth is truth,” host Chuck Todd replied.

“No it isn’t,” Giuliani said. “Truth isn’t truth.”

During Sunday’s edition of “Last Week Tonight”, Oliver referred to Giuliani as a “one-man legal improv troupe” and called his recent comments “very Giuliani…even by Giuliani’s standards.”

“That is not acceptable from a president’s lawyer,” Oliver said. “It’s barely acceptable from a sophomore philosophy major who just tried Molly for the first time.”

Oliver also criticized Giuliani for openly admitting during the interview that the Trump Tower meeting was “originally for the purpose of getting information about Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.”
