Earlier this week, editor Hamilton Nolan shared a piece on Splinter where he predicted an increase in backlash against people in the Trump administration after press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was denied service at the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia.

Now, in the wake of the mass murder that took place at the Capital Gazette, Nolan shared voicemail threats he had received after publishing his report.
“This week I wrote something that got widely circulated among angry right-wing people on the internet, which caused my personal contact information to be published online, which allowed me to hear voicemails from many new friends,” he wrote.
“Watch your ass, watch your ass,” one caller threatened. “You’re going down, boy, cause sweet 16″ hunting license to carve your ass up.”
“Violence is coming your way, bastard,” another threatened.
“You want the wrath of hell brought down on you?” asked another caller.
“This is a Trump supporter, he’s going to get reelected again and I hope you f*cking choke on it,” a woman said. “You f*cking snowflake.”
