Second U.S. Judge Just Blocked Another Trump ‘Unconstitutional’ Order

For a second time this week, a federal court has blocked an executive order issued by President Donald Trump for being “unconstitutional.”

U.S. District Judge Marvin Garbis in Baltimore halted Trump’s directive to ban transgender people from serving in the U.S. military, ruling that the prohibition likely amounted to unconstitutional discrimination, Reuters reports.

Garbis ruled that the ban lacked justification and “cannot possibly constitute a legitimate governmental interest.” His ruling followed a similar one by a federal judge in Washington on Oct. 30.

Garbis said the transgender ban was not driven by genuine concerns for military efficacy.

“The lack of any justification for the abrupt policy change, combined with the discriminatory impact to a group of our military service members who have served our country capably and honorably, cannot possibly constitute a legitimate governmental interest,” he wrote in his ruling.

The ruling was the second legal defeat for The Trump administration this week.

On Monday, a federal judge permanently blocked Trump’s executive order to cut funding from cities that limit cooperation with US immigration authorities.

The Trump administration said it disagreed with the ruling and was evaluating its next steps, according to the report.
