Back in March, Donald Trump took to Twitter to rant about his tower was wiretapped by the Obama administration. These accusations have now been proven wrong as the Justice Department confirmed late Friday that neither they or the FBI found any evidence of wiretapping.
Trump’s claims weren’t backed by his White House and were shut down by a spokesman for Obama who rejected that the administration wiretapped the real estate mogul’s building.
“The FBI and Department of Justice have now sided with former Director Comey and confirmed in writing that President Trump lied when he tweeted that former President Obama ‘wiretapped’ him at Trump Tower,” Austin Evers, America Oversight’s executive director, said in a statement.
Comey, who was fired by Trump back in May, denied that the Obama administration surveilled the Trump campaign.
