Kaine Just Pin-Pointed Why Trump Dropped Paris Agreement, Is He Jealous Of His Predecessor?

Sen. Time Kaine (D-Va.) fired back at Donald Trump for withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement, stating that Trump is “jealous” of former President Barrack Obama’s achievements.

Kaine tweeted on Friday, “Why did Trump really walk away from #ParisAgreement? He’s surrounded by science deniers and fossil fuel junkies.”

“POTUS jealous of Obama accomplishments,” he added in another tweet. “But in the end, American innovative spirit is stronger than his insecurities.”

Kaine went on to say that it is now up to local governments and private businesses and researchers, rather than the Trump administration, to protect the environment.

“U.S. private sector, researchers, cities, towns and states will lead clean energy revolution despite lack of leadership from WH & President,” the 2016 Democratic vice presidential nominee tweeted.

Trump’s decision makes the U.S. just the third country to not commit to the agreement.

He said during his speech on Thursday:

“We don’t want other leaders and other countries laughing at us anymore, and they won’t be. I was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris.”

Obama responded to Trump’s decision on Thursday. He said that withdrawing from the Paris agreement places the U.S. among “a small handful of nations that reject the future.”

“The nations that remain in the Paris Agreement will be the nations that reap the benefits in jobs and industries created,” he said in a statement.
