Kelly Reportedly Told ‘Furious’ Trump He’s Willing To Resign
A new report has revealed that chief of staff John Kelly has spoken to Donald Trump about potentially resigning after the uproar over disgraced ex-staffer Rob Porter’s domestic abuse allegations.
ABC News reported on Friday that White House insiders have said Kelly has expressed to Trump that he is willing to resign.
The report stated that Trump is “furious” at Kelly following the Porter scandal. The president could replace him with his longtime friend Tom Barrack.
The same sources that told ABC News about Kelly’s willingness to leave his post at the White House also said “they did not believe [Kelly’s] departure is imminent.”
White House spokesman Hogan Gidley spoke with CNN following the report and denied Kelly wants to resign. Kelly “has not offered to resign,” she said.
On Friday, Trump denied the accusations that Porter committed domestic violence and said “he is innocent.”
