Legal Experts Slam Trump After Heedless Flynn Tweet: ‘My God, He Just Admitted To Obstruction’

Donald Trump carelessly took to Twitter on Saturday and may have openly admitted to obstruction of justice when he claimed that he was certain everything Michael Flynn did during the transition was “lawful.”

Trump tweeted:

“I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!”

Former Department of Justice official Matthew Miller was astonished by Trump’s tweet:

“Oh my god, he just admitted to obstruction of justice,” Miller tweeted. “If Trump knew Flynn lied to the FBI when he asked Comey to let it go, then there is your case.”

“Never tweet,” Miller added. “Especially if you’re going to tweet an admission to a crime.”

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA), former ethics czar to President George W. Bush Richard Painter, and Dan Pfeiffer — a senior adviser to the Obama White House — also noted Trump seemed to have admitted to obstruction of justice.
