During an appearance on Fox News Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who went from a staunch Trump detractor to perhaps one of the biggest supporters, attempted to defend the president only to be confronted by his worst opponent: himself.
During the segment, Fox News host Chris Wallace called out the Senator’s hypocrisy by rolling video footage of Graham himself calling for the impeachment of then-president Bill Clinton for even less than what Donald Trump is doing now.
“It is your job to supply us with the things we need to provide oversight over you,” Graham stated in the video clip where he was speaking in regards to White House subpoenas given to Clinton and his administration at the time.
Wallace followed up on the clip of Graham’s sanctimony by asking, “Why is it an impeachable offense for Clinton or Nixon back then to ignore congressional subpoenas, but it’s okay for President Trump to do now?”
Graham proceeded to do what every member of the Trump administration does best: dodge the question and change the subject.
“Mueller is the final word on this for me,” Graham replied, completely ignoring the right of oversight granted to Congress by the Constitution. “If Clinton had stiffed Ken Starr, that’s different,” he added.
“If I were the president, I’d fight back against this political revenge coming out of the House,” he continued. “Mueller was the man of the law. Mueller was an independent voice that we all trusted to be fair. I don’t trust House Democrats to be fair.”
