During the 2016 presidential elections, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham was one of Trump’s most vocal Republican critics. He even told CNN, “You know how you make America great again? Tell Donald Trump to go to hell.”
He has also criticized Trump’s conduct towards the late-Senator John McCain, his response to alleged crimes committed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and—most recently—his sudden decision to withdraw American troops from Syria.
However, something happened during a meeting with Trump in the White House. Graham left the meeting transformed into Trump’s most fervent supporter, and we don’t know why. But many are suggesting the president may possess compromising material on Graham and he is using it used to keep him in line.
What we know is that Graham has become an immoral, complicit villain with no semblance of a moral compass.
There’s a part of me that would like to be able to parse the obvious blackmail and obvious loss of mental competence that have both contributed to Graham’s devolution into a steaming pile of incoherent toxic garbage. But the reality is that, whatever has happened to Graham, he doesn’t belong within a million miles of the Senate.
Graham is up for reelection 2020, and he must be voted out.
