‘Lone DNC Hacker’ Guccifer 2.0 Just Confessed To Being A Russian Intelligence Officer: Report
Prior to the 2016 presidential election, the “lone hacker” known as Guccifer 2.0 took credit for providing WikiLeaks with stolen emails from the Democratic National Committee. On Thursday, a new report revealed that Guccifer 2.0 was, in fact, a Russian intelligence officer.
According to The Daily Beast, Guccifer 2.0 “was an officer of Russia’s military intelligence directorate (GRU).”
The Daily Beast noted that “the attribution of Guccifer 2.0 as an officer of Russia’s largest foreign intelligence agency would cross the Kremlin threshold—and move the investigation closer to Trump himself.”
Trump’s longtime political adviser Roger Stone, who has been a big subject in Mueller’s investigation, admitted that he was in touch with Guccifer during the campaign. Stone said the two would communicate via Twitter.
Stone published an article for Breitbart in August 2016 claiming that “It doesn’t seem to be the Russians that hacked the DNC, but instead a hacker who goes by the name of Guccifer 2.0.”
Now, Guccifer has come clean and admitted to being a Russian intelligence officer.
Special counsel Robert Mueller is inching closer to finding out the truth about Trump.
