Mexican-American Judge Who Trump Racially Attacked Could Be Hearing Case On Border Wall
Donald Trump has been accused by many of being a racist. One of the actions that prove that was when he racially attacked a Mexican-American judge that he claimed was unfair on a case because of his Mexican heritage. That federal judge could end up judging whether the president gets to build his proposed border wall.
During the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump attacked U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel by claiming he was biased against him in a lawsuit concerning Trump University because of Curiel’s Mexican heritage.
Judge Curiel will be hearing a case on Friday that could determine Trump’s ability to waive environmental laws in the construction of the wall.
Trump needs Judge Curiel to allow him to issue the waivers needed to build sections of the border. But, Curiel could very well go against the Trump administration’s efforts to build barriers on unfenced portions of the border.
