Donald Trump has been insisting that the coronavirus should be referred to as the “China virus” because it came from China. Those kinds of remarks have lead to Chinese-Americans being harassed because of how they look.
Yet, there’s people in Congress like Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) who believe that it’s not a big deal if Trump turns this pandemic into a racism show.
Rubio on Friday dismissed complaints about the label and suggested that America right now has more important things to worry about than whether the president’s words encourage racism against our fellow citizens.
“Virtually every American was either laid off or has family members & friends who have,” he wrote on Twitter. “I know AN ENTIRE IMMEDIATE FAMILY (husband, wife, two adult children & their 2 spouses) all laid off in last 72 hours. But some people want to argue over what name we should use for the virus.”

It didn’t take long for Twitter users to bash Rubio for supporting Trump’s racism. Here are some of the best responses:
Your president is putting Asians in harm by being racist

.@marcorubio, as I have experience with how you and he divert attention with words, YES IT MATTERS!!! Stop protecting what he is doing. His words will lead to another act of violence or a shooting, something you and I both have experience with. Marco, be productive or be quiet.

No, Rubes, we don't want to argue on what name to use. We want the creep you're blindly worshipping, to stop weaponizing a pandemic with racism and nationalism in order to hide his complete ineptitude, causing national financial collapse/ unnecessary death—you useless sycophant.

Losing jobs is absolutely horrible but it’s not an excuse to be racist, asshole.

"just let the racist be racist" is not the insightful hot take you believe it to be, Marco

It takes seconds to call out racism and makes a huge difference. People are being attacked and harassed because of Trump's comments.
Wanting to help families doesn't mean you're too busy to remember not to be a racist.

Correction, Marco. Some people want to create distractions so that they will not be held accountable for getting us into this mess. Other people, namely you, want to help them because you were ALSO responsible having enabled this shit show for three years.
Bible verse that.

Who is it that is trying to make the name of the virus into a big issue? I forget. pic.twitter.com/28tWkIQKd8

You're absolutely right. It's called COVID-19. And the President YOU empowered, the one you bootlick daily made it ten times worse by rejecting testing because he didn't want "the numbers" to make him "look bad." People will die because of this utterly selfish, asinine decision.

No Marco we want tests, ventilators, and masks.

How miserable it must be to go from being the darling of the tea party— the hope for the GOP — the future first Cuban american President to being a 2nd tier flunky for Trump.
you’re not even in the top shelf of trump flunkies. You’re the guy on the outside trying to get in
