Missouri residents were not happy on Monday after Attorney General Josh Hawley (R) offered their state to host Donald Trump’s military parade.
On Monday, Hawley tweeted saying:
“@realDonaldTrump, we would love to host the military parade in Missouri. The politicians in D.C. are wrong. Our military and veterans deserve to be honored.”

Hawley’s tweet drew instant criticism from residents all over the state.
Please don’t speak for all of us. We do honor our military and veterans…. which isn’t the point if this parade. The point of it is to boost the ego of the President.

He bud – why not guarantee all military families health insurance for life or perhaps a living wage? They’ll appreciate that much more than a silly parade.

You want to honor military?
1. Sign up. You’re still young enough
2. Rather than wasting money on appeasing Trump’ ego, use the massive cash required for the VA to help injured soldiers.
Or simply: stop trying to use our troops as props for your senate run, you fraud.

Get back to work and do your job.

You footing the bill?
— Brad Erdbruegger (@berdman92) February 12, 2018
Hey @HawleyMO, why don’t you focus on being the AG for MO? You have no accomplishments and a parade would be a waste of money.
Oh wait, you can’t “AG” right now because you started running for senate the day Missourians elected you in ‘16. Get him, @clairecmc !#LadderClimber

No. And I will do everything I can to ensure you don't win another election. This isn't North Korea or Saddam-era Iraq.

This veteran disagrees.
Spend the energy on real diplomacy to make the world safer
Spend the money on VA care, homelessness, etc.

Honor the troops.
Don't honor Trump.

@realDonaldTrump is neither a member of the military nor a veteran (he IS however, a DRAFT DODGER) and definitely DOES NOT deserve to be honored with a parade. Don't feed his ego!!! #DictatorTrump #Resistance #TrumpTraitor #TrumpRussia

No, "we" wouldn't.

Incredible that you were a law professor at my Alma mater. Fascist displays don’t have a place in Missouri. You don’t speak for us.

Perhaps we should have a yearly national holiday, some sort of Veterans Day or perhaps a Memorial Day.
— Deplorkibble (@deplorkibble) February 12, 2018
Josh, why stop there! Let's pay for it too!! Because we all know how Republican #MoLeg loves to waste money in MO! We haven't expanded Medicaid, we cut in-home healthcare for seniors. The confetti can be vouchers for private & charter schools as we dismantle our public schools!
— Laura Metz (@metzl) February 12, 2018
Who the hell are you? Every single veteran I’ve spoken to thinks it’s a ridiculous idea and only to sooth @realDonaldTrump and his ego. Not in Missouri.
