Mitch McConnell Gets Chewed Out After Sharing Photo Of His Opponent On A Grave Hours After El Paso Shooting

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell thought it would be a good idea to post a photo of his political opponent’s name all over different graves just hours after two mass shootings left 31 people dead in two states.

As part of his reelection campaign, McConnell took to Twitter over the weekend to share a photo taken at the state’s Fancy Farm annual political forum that showed Democratic candidate Amy McGrath’s name, along with the name of Merrick Garland and the word socialism, printed on cardboard tombstones.

McGrath didn’t find the tweet funny or appropriate, especially for its timing. She took to Twitter herself to call McConnell out.

“Hours after the El Paso shooting, Mitch McConnell proudly tweeted this photo,” McGrath tweeted. “I find it so troubling that our politics have become so nasty and personal that the Senate Majority Leader thinks it’s appropriate to use imagery of the death of a political opponent (me) as messaging.”
