Mitch McConnell Gets Eaten Alive By Twitter Users After Claiming ‘This Is Not 2016’ On US Supreme Court Vacancy
When it comes to double standards Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has now taken the cake. On Thursday he spoke on the Senate floor to claim that “this is not 2016,” referring to the time Congress denied former President Barack Obama the chance to appoint a Supreme Court judge close to the end of his term.
“This is not 2016. There aren’t the final months of a second-term, constitutionally lame-duck presidency with a presidential election fast approaching. We’re right in the middle of this president’s very first term.”

But people weren’t believing him and Twitter users bashed the Republican Senator for his claims.
Why bother justifying when it's clear you're making up the rules as you go along? Just drop the pretenses that this is democracy already.

Strange how he wants to do it this fall when Mueller is suppose to be finished with his investigation. I would love if Mueller releases the evidence right before they try to nominate someone

Final months? Scalia died in February.

Final months, final year. Same thing to mathematically challenged McConnell. Everybody knows turtles aren't good with keeping track of time.

It may be his first term, but it’s also his last.

republicans are experts at justifying their dirt…they've been doing it since the 70's and dems ALWAYS back down-
it will ultimately be up to🇺🇸US, the people, to stop the GOP😒#glovesOFF✊🏼

Nope, Republicans stole a nominee from Obama. Turnabout is fair play.

THE. SENATE. CONFIRMS. THE. NOMINEE. They have at least as much say as the President. The Senate is up for re-election. The same people deserve the same choice. That argument is specious and irrelevant.

You’re right it’s 2018 and the president is under federal investigation for collusion with a hostile foreign power.
