Mitch McConnell Opposes New Russia Investigation — Report
Less than 24 hours after the firing of FBI Director, James Comey, U.S. Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell (R-KY), said on Wednesday he did not support any additional investigation into whether Russia influenced the 2016 U.S., according to Raw Story.
As he opened the Senate floor, McConnell said that a new investigation into the president’s ties with Russia and the alleged collusion with the Kremlin “would impede” probes already under way.
Chamber’s Democratic minority leader, Chuck Schumer, fired back at the Republican leader by reiterating his calls for a special counsel to look into the matter, according to the report.
Schumer said the need was more urgent after Trump abruptly fired Comey on Tuesday.
