Morning Joe Trashes GOP For Pushing ‘Paranoid Conspiracy Theories’ When They Control Government
On Tuesday, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough blasted Republicans for pushing ridiculous right-wing conspiracy theories and painting themselves as victims when they control every facet of the government.
Scarborough said crazy conspiracy theories are nothing new in the GOP — but he said Republicans sound ridiculous when they claim “deep state” government agents are trying to bring down President Donald Trump, but the “Morning Joe” host said their claims fall apart under the least bit of scrutiny.
“At the tip of that, at the top of the pyramid of that conspiracy, is one Robert Mueller, Republican,” he said. “You step back to look at that pyramid, that pyramid of stacked conspiracy, you find Robert Mueller, Republican, Rod Rosenstein, Republican. The attorney general (Jeff Sessions), Republican. The Supreme Court, Republican — 5-4. They wouldn’t like to be called that, but that’s exactly what they are. The House of Representatives, Republican. Congress, Republican, and the administration, Republican.”
Scarborough said Republicans hadn’t dominated government so thoroughly since at least 1932, before Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected — but he said GOP lawmakers still stoked “paranoid” conspiracy theories.
“They still have buffoons going out, talking about a conspiracy,” Scarborough said. “We have met the enemy, buffoons, and the enemy is us, because you’re on a ship and you run every part of that ship. You even run the mess hall. You can’t claim that there’s a conspiracy. It really is remarkable that these Republicans still claim conspiracy when they have a complete and total monopoly over all levels of power in Washington, D.C.”
