Mueller Team Looking At Ivanka Trump’s Interaction With Russian Operative At Trump Tower: Report

In another development in the Trump-Russia saga, special counsel Robert Mueller is looking into Ivanka Trump’s interaction with a Russian lawyer during a controversial Trump Tower meeting at the height of the 2016 campaign, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Citing a person familiar with the interaction, the newspaper reports: “While the first daughter did not take part in the June 2016 meeting, she greeted the Russian attorney and a lobbyist who attended the meeting and walked them to an elevator.”

The Times also reported that Mueller’s team is looking into any interactions the attorney, Natalia Veselnitskaya, and lobbyist, Rinat Akhmetshin, had with President Trump’s family members and inner circle.

The infamous June 2016 meeting has become a flashpoint in the Russia probe, with the president’s eldest son Donald Trump Jr. meeting with the attorney who promised damaging information on Hillary Clinton.

Trump Jr., along with the president’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort attended the meeting with the Russian lawyer and lobbyist.

Donald Trump Jr. has maintained that the meeting was primarily to discuss American adoptions of Russian children.

In an excerpt from a new book “Fire And Fury,” which chronicles the early months of the Trump presidency, former White House strategist Steve Bannon is quoted as saying that there was “zero” chance that President Trump did not know about the meeting.
