According to a new Gallup poll released Tuesday, it seems that ever since Trump became president his supporters have shown a favorability for the Russian leader.
The poll revealed that the number among Republicans that favor Vladimir Putin has gone up to the highest it’s ever been, while Democrats’ numbers have hit new lows.
According to the poll, 21% of Americans favor Putin, while just two years ago that number was at 13%. Also two years ago, the percentage of Republicans that favored Putin was at 12, now that number has gone up a staggering 20 percentage points. 32% of Republicans now have a favorable view of the Russian president.
On the other hand, the percentage of Democrats who favor Putin has gone down. Back in 2015, 15% of Democrats showed favorability to Putin. That number is now down to 10%.
The poll was conducted from Feb. 1-5 by telephone, surveying 1,035 adults throughout the country. It has a margin of error of 4 percentage points, with a 95 percent confidence level.
