New Poll Slams GOP’s Claim That Impeachment Hurt America’s Interest As Majority Favor It
A new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll that was taken shortly after the impeachment vote found that the majority of Americans were in favor of Donald Trump’s impeachment.
The poll found that 52 percent of the people surveyed were in favor of impeaching Trump, while 43 percent disapproved of the impeachment.
While the vote did split among party lines, Independents also sided with the impeachment of Donald Trump. 48 percent approve of the House passing articles of impeachment and 41 percent disapprove.
The POLITICO/Morning Consult poll, conducted Dec. 19-20, is the first national survey to measure public opinion on the impeachment vote. Prior to the vote, POLITICO/Morning Consult polls showed slightly greater support for impeaching Trump than other public surveys.
The POLITICO/Morning Consult poll surveyed 1,387 likely voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
The poll contradicts Trump’s and the GOP’s argument that Americans were against the impeachment.
