Health and Human Services (HHS) secretary Tom Price thought he would be in the clear after paying back taxpayers $52,000 for his private jet flights he took for business trips. Those flights cost taxpayers $400,000, but a new report has revealed that Price spent an additional $500,000 on flights to Europe, Asia and Africa since May.
“The overseas trips bring the total cost to taxpayers of Price’s travels to more than $1 million since May,” the report reveals.
Price has criticized government officials in the past for using taxpayer money to take trips. What makes it okay when he does it?
According to Politico, “Price said he will write a personal check to the federal government for the costs of traveling on private jets and will permanently halt his use of charter flights.”
“The taxpayers won’t pay a dime for my seat on those planes,” Price said in a statement Thursday afternoon.
After only paying $52,000, Price received backlash from Democratic lawmakers.
Until @SecPriceMD has paid back the full amount of his private jet flights he is still ripping off taxpayers https://t.co/ckFNMK1fu2

The full cost to taxpayers was over $400,000. This isn't good enough.https://t.co/j3uHVPjPsQ https://t.co/CNkqFilmnQ

Price has cost taxpayers over $1million in the past 5 months and he only paid back $52,000. Does that seem right to you?
