New York Legislature Just Passed ‘The TRUMP Act’ To Legally Release Trump’s Tax Returns

A new legislation in New York called the Tax Returns Uniformly Made Public Act, or the TRUMP Act, that would reveal Donald Trump’s tax returns for the last five years.

According to CNN the TRUMP Act would mandate the state to publicly post online the state tax returns of anyone elected in a statewide election to federal or state office. This would apply for both the president and vice president.

“The tax experts I’ve spoken to think we’ll get a good snapshot of what’s on his federal form,” said State Sen. Brad Hoylman (D), who sponsored the bill.

Trump’s has refused to release his tax returns, blaming that he was under audit and could not release his taxes because of it.

But the IRS has said otherwise, stating that audit doesn’t prevent someone from making his or her tax returns public.

“I said, number one, I’m under audit. Right now, I’m under audit. After the audit is complete. It’s a routine audit, but I have a very big tax return,” Trump said last month during an interview.

The president continued to reiterate he is under routine audit.

“And I think it’s a very unfair thing because I have been under audit almost, like, since I became famous, okay?” he said.
