Donald Trump has said good things about Russian President Vladimir Putin in the past, so it’s no surprise that a newly released transcript from a phone call he had with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull revealed him praising the Russian president.
On Thursday The Washington Post obtained and released a transcript of a January 28 call between Trump and Turnbull.
According to the transcript Trump was arguing with the Australian Prime Minister over refugees. In the midst of the argument Trump called his call with Putin pleasant.
“I have had it,” Trump told his Australian counterpart. “I have been making these calls all day, and this is the most unpleasant call all day.”
“Putin was a pleasant call,” Trump said. “This is ridiculous.”
Trump would much rather praise the leader of one of the United States’ adversaries while shutting down one of America’s closest allies and intelligence-sharing partners.
This just speaks for itself and it raises many concerns.
