A Republican lawmaker lost descended into a crazed rant during a CNN interview on Friday after the host corrected false claims he was making on live TV.
During the exchange, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) — who has been derisively called “Putin’s favorite congressman” — defended former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who was indicted last year for allegedly running money laundering operations on behalf of a Kremlin-backed Ukrainian oligarch.
“Anyone can be indicted for anything, especially when there’s a special prosecutor,” he said dismissively.
CNN’s Ana Cabrera interjected and asked Rohrabacher about whether he thought it was OK to lie to the FBI, as former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and former Trump foreign policy aide George Papadopoulos had both done.
“The answer is no, it’s not good to lie to anybody,” he replied, before pivoting to attack Cabrera. “It’s also not good to interrupt people when they’re trying to make a point when you’re a news person.”
Cabrera apologized to the congressman and told him she meant “no disrespect.”
That’s when things got weird.
Rohrabacher became incredibly angry and shouted: “No disrespect my foot! You don’t respect Trump, you don’t respect people who disagree with you politically!”
Cabrera continued to try to apologize for interrupting him with no luck.
