Nordstrom Sales Go Up After Dropping Ivanka Line While Retailers Continue To Stop Selling Trump Products

Donald Trump tweeted out against Nordstrom after they decided to drop Ivanka’s line due to poor sales.

“My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom,” Trump tweeted earlier in February. “She is a great person — always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!”

Nordstrom said that the tweet hasn’t affected their sales in any way. In fact, by the end of the day that the tweet was posted they finished with +4% in sales.

Nordstrom’s co-president Pete Nordstrom did say that Trump’s tweets against the company had a “negligible” impact on the business and were “not discernible one way or the other,” Fashionista reported.

Their decision to drop the brand was due to the lack of sales.

“Each year we cut about 10% [of brands] and refresh our assortment with about the same amount,” a Nordstrom representative said in a statement. “In this case, based on the brand’s performance we’ve decided not to buy it for this season.”

Nordstrom isn’t the only company that has dropped Trump products. In fact, according to Business Insider, the number of Trump products available online has dropped by 61%, while 19 companies have stopped selling Trump products.

The movement called GrabYourWallet calls for consumers to boycott retailers that sell Trump-branded products.

Co-founder of the movement, Shannon Coulter, spoke with Business Insider:

“I did expect it to succeed,” Coulter said. “I saw such a strong and spirited response to even my very first musings about it.”

Since the boycott started more than 3,600 Trump products have been dropped by retailers.
