NY Prosecutors Obtain Recordings With Danming Evidence Against Trump: Report
The Southern District of New York has obtained recordings of President Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen talking to lawyers representing the women then-candidate Trump paid off, CNN reported Wednesday.
“A couple other things that jump out at me,” said CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota. “Going over the new revelations, which include that Trump’s security chief, Keith Schiller, had made calls to David Pecker, CEO of the National Enquirer’s parent company.”
“They also possess a recorded phone conversation between Mr. Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen, who we know said that he had lots of recorded conversations and the lawyer who represented the two women,” Camerota continued. “So what is said on there, what were they negotiating?”
“This kind of transaction is a complex transaction,” said ex-federal prosecutor Elie Honig. “It involved a lot of different people and a lot of different layers within the president’s orbit and I think we’re going to see that.
“I want to hear that tape, that tape is something that jumps out at me,” he continued, laughing. “You can cross-examine a witness all you want, you can say ‘you’re not telling the truth, you have bad motives,’ but a tape is a tape. Smart defense lawyers, one of the first things they will ask you is ‘do you have a tape.’”
