Donald Trump wasn’t very happy with Attorney General Jeff Sessions following his appointment with special counsel Robert Mueller back in May. According to a new report, Trump called Sessions an “idiot” and asked for him to resign.
“Shortly after learning in May that a special counsel had been appointed to investigate links between his campaign associates and Russia, President Trump berated Attorney General Jeff Sessions in an Oval Office meeting and said he should resign, according to current and former administration officials and others briefed on the matter.”
Trump openly expressed his angered towards Sessions when news broke out that he was upset at the Attorney General for recusing himself. The president called Sessions “disloyal.”
According to The Times, Sessions was extremely upset by Trump’s insults that he sent a letter of resignation to the White House and called the Oval Office episode “the most humiliating experience in decades of public life.”
Trump, being the flip-flop that he is, decided to turn down Sessions’ resignation. His decision came after consulting his aides.
“Mr. Trump once again, in July, told aides he wanted to remove Mr. Sessions, but for a second time didn’t take action,” the Times reported.
