Obama Takes The Gloves Off, Hits The Campaign Trail Ahead Of 2020 Election
Former President Barack Obama, who Obama has avoided the public spotlight since he appeared on the campaign trail for several candidates in the 2018 midterms, is returning to the campaign trail for his first open event of the 2020 cycle by raising money for the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
Obama will appear for a conversation with DNC Chair Tom Perez on Nov. 21 in Los Altos Hills, according to the invitation for the event, Vox reports.
Obama is not expected to begin pressing the case for Democrats in earnest until next year. He has committed himself to remaining neutral in the presidential primary, at least for now.
The DNC fundraiser is likely to draw heavy interest from high-powered donors from across the tech industry, many of whom revered Obama and supported his previous White House runs.
