Ocasio-Cortez Bursts Ivanka Trump’s Bubble After Daddy Brings Her To G-20 Summit: ‘Being Someone’s Daughter Isn’t a Career Qualification’

Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) slammed President Trump for bringing his daughter Ivanka Trump to the Group of 20 (G-20) Summit, saying it “hurts our diplomatic standing.”

“It may be shocking to some, but being someone’s daughter actually isn’t a career qualification,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted on Saturday following this year’s summit in Japan. “It hurts our diplomatic standing when the President phones it in & the world moves on.”

“The US needs our President working the G20. Bringing a qualified diplomat couldn’t hurt either,” she added.

The comments from Ocasio-Cortez came in response to a video released by the French presidential palace that shows Ivanka Trump being ignored after attempting to join a discussion involving French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, British Prime Minister Theresa May and International Monetary Fund Chairwoman Christine Lagarde.

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) tweeted on Sunday that he “would like to hear Ivanka Trump’s explanation about this video” before noting that she has blocked him on the social media platform.

The White House did not immediately respond to a Political Dig request for comment.
