President Accused Of Sex Assault By 16 Women Endorses Accused Child Molester For Senate

A President accused of sexual assault by 16 Women has issued a new endorsement of a Senate candidate accused of Sexual harassment by 9. Donald Trump doubled down on his support of accused pedophile Roy Moore in the Alabama Senate race in a series of tweets Sunday morning.

“he last thing we need in Alabama and the U.S. Senate is a Schumer/Pelosi puppet who is WEAK on Crime, WEAK on the Border, Bad for our Military and our great Vets, Bad for our 2nd Amendment, AND WANTS TO RAISES TAXES TO THE SKY. Jones would be a disaster!”Trump wrote on Twitter.

He added:

“I endorsed Luther Strange in the Alabama Primary. He shot way up in the polls but it wasn’t enough. Can’t let Schumer/Pelosi win this race. Liberal Jones would be BAD!”

Trump’s Moore endorsement puts him at odds with major figures in his own party, from Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell to Alabama’s senior senator, Republican Richard Shelby, who says he “absolutely will not vote for Roy Moore.” Shelby’s comments are featured in a new Doug Jones ad, along with criticism by the president’s daughter Ivanka.

By attacking Moore’s opponent, Doug Jones, the man who prosecuted and won convictions against the KKK members who bombed a black church, Trump is painting a picture for Alabamians that is meant to use his usual fear-mongering to support a man who put a 14-year-old girl’s hand on his underwear-covered genitals, according to the highly credible word of the victim.

Trump has made sure that the Moore election is a referendum on his control of the party, and the Alabama Republican primary shows that voters in the state have ignored his endorsement before. Having been cajoled into endorsing McConnell’s choice in the primary, appointed incumbent Luther Strange, an angry Trump followed former strategist Steve Bannon into the Moore camp, not wanting to be on the losing side again.

Will he wind up on the losing side anyway? Nobody knows. There are some polls showing Jones with a slight edge; there are Republicans like former Jeb Bush adviser Tim Miller endorsing Jones, and urging other Republicans to join him in raising money for the Democrat.

We’ll see whether in the coming days more Republicans join Miller and endorse Jones outright, or decide that tax cuts for the rich are more important than keeping a sexual abuser out of the Senate.

At this point, no one should be surprised if the GOP has secretly changed its name from “Grand Old Party” to “Group of Old Predators.”
