Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price was caught using taxpayer dollars to take business trips on private jets.
Price announced on Thursday that he will be paying back every penny out of his own pocket.
According to Politico, “Price said he will write a personal check to the federal government for the costs of traveling on private jets and will permanently halt his use of charter flights.”
“The taxpayers won’t pay a dime for my seat on those planes,” Price said in a statement Thursday afternoon.
But is paying that money back enough? If he was really sorry about his mistake then why take the private jet trips in the first place?
Price has been critical of the governmental use of private jets in the past, but that didn’t stop him from taking those trips.
Price is cutting a check to the taxpayers, but if he had a shred of ethics or responsibility to the taxes, he would never have been taking private jets in the first place.
