Putin Says Trump Believed His Denial Of Interfering In The US Presidential Election

Donald Trump’s secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, said after Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that the U.S. president repeatedly pressed Putin regarding possible Russian interference in the 2016 election.

But, Putin seems to have something different to say about that. The Russian leaders said on Saturday that Trump believed his denial of any meddling.

The meeting between the two leaders was scheduled to last 30 minutes, but it ended up lasting 2 hours. It was the first face-to-face meeting between the two since Trump took office.

Trump has yet to speak about the meeting with Putin. According to the Associated Press, Putin said that Trump himself needs to speak for himself on whether he believes Russia interfered.

Trump was asked about Russia’s meddling in the election prior to his meeting with Putin, his response: “nobody really knows for sure.”
