Rep Omar Bashes Trump After He Tried To Bully Her: ‘I Did Not Run For Congress To Be Silent’

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) took to Twitter on Saturday, not only to call out her critics but to thank her supporters as the hashtag “#IstandwithIlhan” entered its second day on the list of top trending terms on Twitter in the United States.

Omar, who has been criticised by Donald Trump and right-wingers for allegedly not loving her country enough, decided to shut down her haters on Saturday.

The Democratic Congresswoman vowed that her love for the U.S. was unquestionable.

“I did not run for Congress to be silent. I did not run for Congress to sit on the sidelines. I ran because I believed it was time to restore moral clarity and courage to Congress. To fight and to defend our democracy,” Omar wrote on Twitter.

“No one person – no matter how corrupt, inept, or vicious – can threaten my unwavering love for America. I stand undeterred to continue fighting for equal opportunity in our pursuit of happiness for all Americans,” she added.

“Thank you for standing with me – against an administration that ran on banning Muslims from this country – to fight for the America we all deserve,” Omar concluded.

Omar also got support from presidential candidate Bernie Sanders:
