Last week Fox News Host Sean Hannity’s Twitter account had been taken down for a while, which caused WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange to contact a copycat Hannity account about having damaging information on a Senate Intelligence Committee member.
The Daily Beast spoke to the fake account’s owner, Dell Gilliam, a Texas-based technical writer posing as the Fox News host. According to Gilliam, Assange wanted to set up “other channels” to provide information on a Democratic senator who was part of the Russia investigation.
“You can send me messages on other channels,” Assange said to the person he believed to be Hannity via DM.
Gilliam told The Daily Beast that Assange said he had “some news on Warner,” referring to Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee.
“I felt bad,” Gilliam told the Beast. “He really thought he was talking to Sean Hannity.”
According to Gilliam, he never received any information from Assange but he said the WikiLeaks owner mentioned “other channels” twice.
