Republican Who Called Opponent ‘Monkey’ Has Been Busted For Running Page That Promotes Racism And ‘Deep State’ Conspiracies

The Republican candidate for Florida’s gubernatorial run has received backlash after calling his black opponent “monkey.” On Wednesday, it was revealed that GOP candidate Ron DeSantis helps run a Facebook page that promotes racism and “deep state” conspiracy theories.

According to American Ledger, a corruption watchdog news site, DeSantis is one of 52 administrators who run the “Tea Party” Facebook group.

It was first revealed that DeSantis took part in the Facebook page when Media Matters extremism researcher Natalie Martinez posted screenshots on Twitter.

According to The Ledger, the group promotes racism and many members have posted that Black Lives Matter is a “ghetto scum.”

“One member believed the violent far-right rally of neo-Nazis and white supremacists in Charlottesville, Va., in August 2017 was a hoax,” the report noted, “writing in a post liked by 1,600 users that the rally was ‘orchestrated by the left’ to ‘destroy America.’”
