Republicans LOST: GOP Cancels Obamacare Repeal Voting And Accept Defeat

Republicans saw the inevitable and ultimately decided to pull the plug on their ObamaCare repeal bill from a scheduled Friday afternoon vote.

The bill was not getting any positive feedback and Republicans knew this, but they still wanted to push for something that would not work.

Donald Trump asked Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) to pull the measure a day after issuing an ultimatum that the House should vote on it, a GOP aide said.

A Ryan aide spoke with The Hill and said the decision is being announced by Ryan in a closed-door conference meeting.

The GOP could not afford more than 22 defections and they were leaning towards 36 Republicans who were going to vote no on the new legislation.

The decision to pull the vote came after Ryan met with Trump at the White House.
