Several Republicans, including South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, have declared that Sen. Ted Cruz (TX) should be a Supreme Court nominee of President-elect Donald Trump to replace Anthony Scalia. According to Graham, there is “no stronger constitutional conservative” than Cruz.
“I would put Ted Cruz on that list,” Graham told reporters at a Veterans Day event in Greenville, South Carolina, according to Greenville Online. “I would suggest that President Trump look within the Senate.”
Graham, who reluctantly endorsed Cruz during the Republican primaries following his failed bid, appears to have made a complete turnaround in regards to his sentiment of the Texas senator, who Graham once joked he could murder without punishment.
“There is some talent there,” he added. “There is no stronger constitutional conservative than Ted Cruz.”
But if Trump were to nominate Cruz to replace the late Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court, it would likely be a very popular choice among Republicans, conservatives and constitutionalists.
